St. Patricks Well
The well is 13 meters wide and a breathtaking 54 meter deep in order to reach the reach the deeper soft layers springs.
The design offers two helicodial staircases of 248 steps each. The two staircases allowed for pack animals to walk down one and up the other, thus allowing for easy passage when water was being transported back up to the surface.
The walk down is an experience and should not be avoided, especially on a warm summerday you will enjoy the slow decent to the cooler air as you go deeper.
