A few kilometres from the town of Soriano, in the hamlet of Chia, runs a beautiful stream through a rocky lush green ravine. The place is a quiet and the forest is magical.
High above stands this majestic tower (from 16th century) which dominates what remains of the ancient castle of Colle Casale. With a height of 42 meters and an original pentagonal plan, the tower had the function of lookout, defense and communication with the Orsini Castle in Soriano. The tower was owned by the movie director Pasolini, and used for scenes in the film "The gospel according to Matthew" (1964).
This is a great place for a nice hike mixed with historic ruins from the 16th century.
